International Archives Week

Framed within the events of the 2026 World Capital of Architecture, this edition focuses much of its activity on the relationship between urban planning, architecture and history. Guided tours, talks, exhibitions and themed routes will make it possible to explore the transformation of neighbourhoods, emblematic buildings and urban spaces through plans, photographs, files and other documentary testimony.

The programme proposes journeys through different corners of the city, from the Modernist legacy to industrial architecture, passing through urban projects, neighbourhood movements and little-known episodes in Barcelona’s history. It also includes the opening of exhibitions and meetings with specialists who help us understand how archives preserve the traces of everyday life and of major collective changes.

Beyond their documentary function, International Archives Week champions these spaces as living places, open to citizens and essential for understanding how today’s Barcelona has been built.
