Film and discussion series ‘Mental health and young people. The film that changed my life’

This March, the film and discussion series ‘Mental health and young people. The film that changed my life’ opens a vital space on the cultural agenda. On Fridays, in a series of enriching gatherings, films addressing mental-health issues will be screened, followed by discussions intended to encourage reflection and learning about this crucial subject.

About this event

The aim is clear: to use cinema as a catalyst for change, promoting greater understanding and tolerance towards young people’s mental-health issues. Through these gatherings, the hope is to combat stigma, debunk myths and provide a more humane and realistic framework for these issues.

Programme of the Series:

Friday 7 March: Face to face. Young people without interference: This day will focus on dismantling the stigma and misinformation surrounding mental health, exploring truths and disproving falsehoods that often circulate in society.

Friday 14 March: Social networks. Complicity or fragility?: The session is inspired by ‘Las gentiles’, a film that explores in depth how social networks can influence personal identity and social interaction, strengthening both fragility and strength.

Friday 21 March: You and others. Intimate dimensions: It will discuss how emotional support is essential, especially in times of crisis, and reflect on how others can be a safe refuge in the face of life’s adversities.

Friday 28 March: Better yourself! Live sport and healthy habits: Inspired by ‘Brittany Runs a Marathon’, this gathering will discuss the importance of self-care and self-acceptance, analysing how sport and healthy habits can be a way to overcome self-esteem and mental-health problems.

Each session of the ‘Mental health and young people’ series promises to be not only an event of great educational and social value, but also an opportunity for young people and the community at large to deepen their understanding of mental health in an accessible and empathetic way. This series is an invitation to all who seek to understand these vital issues better and to those who believe in cinema’s power to inspire and transform lives.
