16th Barcelona Oral Storytelling Festival “Munt de Mots”

For more than two weeks, the city will become a great stage where stories breathe, tales are heard and imagination walks without a fixed course.

The festival brings together storytellers from here and there—from Catalonia, Chile, Ireland, Venezuela and Galicia—who turn voice into art and listening into experience. There will be pirate adventures, musical journeys, secret routes through Gràcia and even a storytelling jam where anyone can be the protagonist. Stories are not read; they are lived.

From Els contes de la pirata rata by Laura Asencio, to Brian Gilligan’s sea melodies or Furafollas’s powerful voices in Cantareiras, each story will be an invitation to stop and listen.

Munt de Mots is not merely a festival: it is a declaration of love for oral storytelling, that ancient art which continues to beat in every story told before an audience. Because when someone narrates and another listens, something essential happens again: the city explains itself to itself.
