51st edition of the FILMETS Badalona Film Festival

From 16 to 27 October, Badalona once again becomes the epicentre of short film with the 51st edition of the FILMETS Badalona Film Festival, an international benchmark that celebrates emerging talent and champions the short film as the creative engine of the cinema of the future.

This year, the festival opens a new chapter under the artistic direction of Marc Orts, seven-time Goya winner and eight-time Gaudí winner. His commitment: a more ambitious, diverse and engaged programme. In total, 285 short films from 45 countries —259 of them in the Official Section— will compete for the coveted Venus de Badalona, with international premieres, debut works and a strong Catalan presence.

The Official Jury, made up of names such as Isaki Lacuesta, Isa Campo and Roser Aguilar, guarantees a plural and demanding perspective. In addition, the festival will pay tribute with the Venus de Honor to three exemplary careers: actress Aina Clotet, producer Edmon Roch and legendary sound engineer Michael Minkler, winner of three Oscars.

Among the new features are FILMETS Lab, a creation and mentoring laboratory for new filmmakers, and FILMETS Talks, which will bring key figures from the sector closer to the public. These are joined by the FILMETS Pro sessions, spaces for professional reflection on the present and future of the industry.

With venues in Badalona, Granollers, Terrassa, Sant Boi and Barcelona, FILMETS expands its reach without losing its local soul. For twelve days, the city will breathe cinema from Teatre Zorrilla to libraries, hospitals and schools, bringing the seventh art to thousands of viewers.

The edition will culminate with the Nit de les Venus, presented by Òscar Dalmau, where the award winners of a festival that continues to make history… from Badalona to the world will be revealed.
