Dansa Metropolitana Festival

The Dansa Metropolitana Festival returns from 4 to 21 March to fill the theatres, streets and distinctive spaces of twelve municipalities in Barcelona’s metropolitan area with movement and creativity. Its main objective remains unchanged: to bring the art of dance to every space and unite entire communities through this artistic expression.

For almost three weeks, Barcelona and eleven municipalities in the metropolitan area — Badalona, El Prat, L’Hospitalet, Santa Coloma, Esplugues, Sabadell, Terrassa, Cornellà, Granollers, Sant Cugat and Viladecans — will host shows seeking to bring contemporary movement to public space and new audiences.

The essence of the festival lies in taking dance to the street, occupying squares and open spaces and turning the city into a shared stage. Part of the programme takes place in theatres and venues, but many of the Agorae programme’s proposals are presented outdoors, inviting people to discover dance in a direct, everyday way.

The programme also includes family shows and free activities in different parts of the city, culminating in a major final celebration in Ciutadella Park. Dansa Metropolitana thus confirms its determination to make dance an accessible, living art present in urban life.
