Barcelona Crime Fiction Festival «BCNegra»

Curated by Carlos Zanón, the festival understands noir as a vital experience marked by crooked decisions, characters at the limit and an almost physical need to tell what makes us uncomfortable. The programme unfolds over fifty activities that go far beyond book presentations: unguarded conversations, cinema, music, urban routes, performative actions and narrative experiments inviting the public to become involved.

BCNegra brings together some of the sharpest voices on the international scene, from Claudia Piñeiro and Richard Price to S. A. Cosby, Dominique Manotti, Giancarlo Carofiglio and Viveca Sten. Highlights include the presentation of the Premio Pepe Carvalho to Mick Herron and an opening that breaks the mould with musician and writer Vinicio Capossela, who combines words, sound and a literary gaze.

Libraries, cinemas and unexpected spaces become festival stages, reinforcing the idea that noir belongs to the city and its contradictions. BCNegra does not seek easy answers: it proposes uncomfortable questions, stories that scratch, and an invitation to look at reality from the margins. Because sometimes, to understand the present, you have to enter the darkness without fear.
