“Women in the Shadows” Series

Throughout March, different libraries in the city will host meetings that invite visitors to rethink the past from a feminist perspective. The programme ranges from women militia members and spies in the Civil War to invisible women scientists, textile workers in Catalonia and female filmmakers who did not occupy the main screens. There will also be sessions devoted to literary pseudonyms, women in classical music, explorers of the Nile and Palestinian poets in resistance.

Each talk, given by specialists from the academic and cultural spheres, seeks to restore women’s presence in history and offer a more plural and complex understanding of the present. Admission is free until capacity is reached, in an open invitation to listen to what for too long remained silent.
