The lecture «Història LGTBI+ de Barcelona: del silenci a l’orgull sota l’amenaça de l’oblit» proposes recovering part of that legacy through a journey across the spaces, people and events that shaped the community’s life throughout the 20th century.

Journalists Carme Pollina and Thais Morales will lead a session that invites attendees to view the city from another perspective, reconstructing a history made up of resistance, clandestine meetings, demands and social achievements. From the early years of the last century to the 1980s, the talk will chart a map of a lesser-known Barcelona, where the struggle for freedom and recognition often unfolded away from public visibility.
Through testimonies, historical episodes and emblematic places, the lecture offers a reflection on the importance of preserving collective memory and preventing experiences essential to understanding the present from falling into oblivion.
More than a look at the past, the proposal seeks to open a dialogue on the construction of memory and the value of knowing the stories that helped transform the city. A journey through decades of silence, challenges and progress that contributed to making Barcelona one of southern Europe’s leading references for diversity and rights.
