Opera «Turandot»
Coinciding with the centenary of its premiere, the Palau de la Música Catalana presents a semi-staged version of «Turandot», Giacomo Puccini’s last opera. A work that, even unfinished, has become one of the great titles of the operatic repertoire for its dramatic intensity and dazzling musical richness.
About this event
Under the musical direction of Tomàs Grau and with staging by Jordi Gastó, the production opts for restrained staging that leaves room for the force of the score. In the leading roles, Lianna Haroutounian, Xavier Moreno, Carolina López Moreno and David Cervera bring to life a story marked by challenge, desire and sacrifice.
On stage, the Franz Schubert Filharmonia, together with the Orfeó Català and its children’s choir, create a soundscape that alternates moments of great choral power with passages of delicate intimacy.
«Turandot» is, in essence, a tale about the power of love in the face of fear. In this version, Puccini’s music becomes the guiding thread of an experience that oscillates between the grandiose and the deeply human.
