«Scheherazade» concert
On 16 and 18 May, L’Auditori becomes a fascinating musical journey led by the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya (OBC). Under the baton of conductor Marta Gardolińska and with the star participation of cellist Zlatomir Fung, the concert offers a voyage between the contemporary and the eternal.
About this event
The evening will begin with a premiere work by the young composer Sílvia Lanao, one of the most interesting emerging voices on today's scene. Her creation will open the door to one of the most intense pieces of the 20th century: Dmitri Shostakovich's Cello Concerto No. 1, a work full of emotion, irony and strength, performed by Fung's brilliant talent.
In the second half, the audience will be enveloped by the soundscapes of Scheherazade, Rimsky-Korsakov's majestic symphonic suite inspired by the stories of One Thousand and One Nights. A musical tale of adventure and sensuality that unfolds with all the orchestral colour of Russian Romanticism.
