11th Sant Andreu Jazz Festival «Jazzing»
This year, the Jazzing Festival once again brings the Sant Andreu neighbourhood to life, once more turning Fabra i Coats into the heart of jazz. This edition bridges emerging talents and established jazz masters, linking Barcelona with the vibrant scenes of New York and Berlin.
About this event
Jazzing 2024 aims to establish a deep musical connection between these iconic cities. From the streets of New York, Jon-Erik Kellso and The EarRegulars will offer us an authentic taste of classic Village jazz. Meanwhile, from Berlin, The Jungle Jazz Band will invite us to travel back in time with their interpretation of 1920s and 1930s swing. On the local front, talents such as the Sant Andreu Dixie Band and the Joan Monné Quartet will showcase the rich diversity of Barcelona’s jazz scene.
The festival also stands out for its commitment to music education through the Jazz Education Stage. This forum is dedicated to exploring jazz teaching methodologies, reflecting the educational influence of Joan Chamorro and his work with the Sant Andreu Jazz Band in training young musicians.
Thus, the Jazzing Festival becomes more than a musical event; it is a comprehensive celebration of jazz that invites participants to immerse themselves fully in its culture, past and future, creating a unique space for learning and shared enjoyment.
