Concerts from the Palau Carillon

This series of free concerts, which also includes special performances during the La Mercè and Sant Esteve festivities, is a unique opportunity to enjoy a historic instrument that connects musical tradition with the present.

During July, carillon enthusiasts have an unmissable date: the Barcelona International Carillon Festival, an event that brings together renowned performers from around the world. All performances last approximately 60 minutes, and prior registration is required to attend the concerts from inside the Palau de la Generalitat.

The space chosen for the recital, whether the Courtyard of the Orange Trees or the Gothic Gallery, ensures a first-rate acoustic experience, complemented by closed-circuit screens that allow visitors to follow the movement of the carillon keyboards in real time. In addition, each piece is introduced, giving the audience a deeper understanding of the repertoire.

The carillon is not heard only on these special dates; daily recitals from Monday to Friday (at 12:00 and 18:00) and on some Saturdays at midday also fill the streets of the neighbourhood with vibrant notes, giving passers-by and residents a soundtrack that envelops the city's Gothic atmosphere.
