Christmas Concert at Palau Güell

There, in a hall designed to dazzle, a recital will take place performed by two artists who are part of a new musical generation linked to the Festival Victoria de los Ángeles: soprano Montserrat Seró and pianist Bernardo Rambeaud. Their programme proposes a dialogue between Catalan tradition and Central European Romanticism through Catalan popular songs and pieces by Franz Schubert.

The selection is inspired by Victoria de los Ángeles’s own recitals, in which she used to perform popular repertoire accompanied by guitar. The concert draws on that legacy, but also recovers a little-known fact: Schubert not only composed for voice and piano, but also played and probably accompanied himself on guitar, thus linking two worlds that are often considered separate.

The format seeks something simple and direct: for the audience to sit in a historic space and listen to close, unadorned music, performed by two artists with sensitivity and rigour. It is not a mass spectacle, but an experience designed for adults (aged 16 and over) who find pleasure in small musical gems and in places where acoustics and architecture form part of the narrative.

A short, select concert, capable of transforming the Palau Güell into a winter refuge where those who attend take away, more than a programme, an atmosphere.
