Concert “Candlelight: History of Pop”

Reial Cercle Artístic de Barcelona hosts this musical experience, in which the Barcelona Quartet performs versions of songs by artists such as Elvis Presley, Queen, ABBA, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Britney Spears, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Adele, Coldplay and The Weeknd. A journey that spans different generations and shows how great melodies retain all their power even far from their original format.

The strings replace guitars, synthesizers and rhythmic foundations to reveal new nuances in songs such as Bohemian Rhapsody, Billie Jean, Like a Prayer, Rolling in the Deep and Viva La Vida. The result is a musical journey that combines nostalgia, elegance and surprise in an intimate atmosphere lit by hundreds of candles.

This concert forms part of the Candlelight series, a proposal that brings great repertoires to unique settings through chamber music performances. An opportunity to travel through several decades of pop history from a different perspective and discover how the most iconic songs can continue to move us with entirely new instrumentation.
