Film series ‘Àngel Jové. Mossegar la imatge’

An unclassifiable artist, Jové understood cinema, video and visual experimentation as open territories in which to break traditional forms of storytelling and looking. The series sessions cover different stages and obsessions in his work, from the cinematic transgression of the 1970s to the first steps of video art in Catalonia.

The programme combines screenings, conversations and presentations by critics, filmmakers and art historians who help contextualise a career marked by the constant mixing of disciplines. Films by Bigas Luna, documentaries about Jové himself and experimental pieces enter into dialogue to reconstruct an uncomfortable, free and deeply contemporary artistic vision.

More than reviewing a filmography, Mossegar la imatge poses a question about the very nature of images: what they hide, what they provoke and to what extent they can alter the way of understanding art and reality.
