The eclipse in Barcelona
On 12 August, Barcelona will witness one of the most eagerly anticipated astronomical phenomena of recent decades. Although the city will not be within the path of totality, the Moon will cover approximately 99.7% of the Sun, offering an image as exceptional as it is rare.

The event will have special significance: it will be the first total solar eclipse visible from Catalonia in more than 120 years. The reduction in natural light and the Sun’s almost completely darkened appearance will make the day an experience that is difficult to forget, provided weather conditions are favourable. However, observation must be carried out with the utmost caution. Looking directly at the Sun without protection can cause irreversible eye injuries.
To enjoy the eclipse safely, it is essential to use approved solar viewing glasses. Cameras, binoculars and telescopes must not be used without specific solar filters either. Those without this equipment can use indirect observation methods. If children are present, it is recommended that an adult supervise observation of the phenomenon at all times.
